HOW DO I ENROLL MY CHILD?
Visit our homepage and click on the sign-up tab (on the top right of the
page). Enter your information and click sign-up once more. Click on the
arrow next to your name, my account, then parent. The parent page will
provide everything you need to enroll your child.
WHEN CAN I ENROLL MY CHILD AT SONSHINE ACADEMY?
Enrollment is open year-round depending on space availability. If no space is
available upon inquiry, you will be added to our waitlist and contacted once
a spot becomes available.

Immunization Record
Doctor’s prescription (if child requires medication)

WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATION?
6 am- 6 pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
6 am- 5:30 pm, Wednesday

IS SONSHINE KIDS OPEN DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER?
Sonshine Academy will remain open unless local public schools close or
unforeseen circumstances jeopardize the safety of our children, families,
and staff. All closures will be communicated through the local news
stations, the BrightWheel App, and our Facebook page.

HOW MANY DAYS CAN MY CHILD ATTEND? IS THERE A MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM NUMBER OF DAYS PER WEEK MY CHILD CAN ATTEND?
Enrollment is for the full week. Parents are asked to provide a drop-off and
pick-up time so that we can best prepare for your child’s arrival and
departure.
WHAT IS THE COST OF TUITION?
Tuition rates vary based on the child’s age. For detailed information, Sign-
up, click the Parents tab to access the Parent Handbook for information
regarding tuition and fees.
ARE MEALS INCLUDED IN TUITION?
Certainly! Sonshine Academy offers breakfast, lunch, and snacks for each
child in our program.

CAN I TAKE A TOUR OF THE CHILDCARE CENTER DURING HOURS OF OPERATION?
Certainly! While walk-ins are welcome, we recommend scheduling an
appointment so that our staff may better assist you.
WILL MY CHILD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY OUTSIDE
EVERY DAY?
Children will have outdoor playtime each day if the weather permits.
WHO CAN I EXPECT TO SEE INTERACTING WITH MY CHILD?
All staff members undergo and pass a criminal background check and have
prior experience of working with children. All classrooms are assigned a
Master teacher or Lead teacher to provide the highest standard of
education to students. Lead teachers hold a high school diploma or higher
and receive specialized training in their respective age groups through the
Center for Childhood Professional Development (CECPD). Master teachers
hold an Early Childhood Development degree or coursework.
HOW OFTEN IS STAFF TRAINING PROVIDED?
All staff members are required to attend 20 hours of professional
development training annually. Training programs cover essential topics
including CPR and First Aid, communication, learning through play, and
assisting children with special needs.
WHAT LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE
THROUGHOUT THE DAY?
We ensure that experiences at Sonshine Academy meet children’s whole
development including spiritual needs. The curriculum and teacher
interactions are responsive to each child’s individual needs, abilities, and
interests.

WHAT TYPE OF CURRICULUM IS OFFERED?
At Sonshine Academy, our goal is to offer students a developmentally
appropriate Christian education. We utilize the Abeka curriculum,
emphasizing a traditional philosophy of education with a focus on Christian
values.
WHAT IS THE NAP AND REST TIME POLICY FOR CHILDREN
AT THE CENTER?
During rest time children will have an opportunity to rest, sleep, or relax on
their personal cots. They may engage in activities such as reading books or
listening to relaxing music. Children are encouraged to use quiet voices to
create a peaceful environment for themselves and their peers.
HOW WILL I BE INFORMED ABOUT MY CHILD’S DAY AT SONSHINE ACADEMY?
Communication is highly valued at Sonshine Academy. Teachers will provide
daily updates to each parent via the BrightWheel app. This app enables
teachers and parents to share information about the child’s day, including
activities, meals, diaper changes, and pictures.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED IN CENTER ACTIVITIES?
Parent involvement is very important and encouraged at Sonshine Academy.
Check with your child’s teacher or one of our directors for more
information.
IS THE CENTER LICENSED?
All childcare facilities must be licensed by OKDHS. Our center is licensed,
insured, smoke and drug free.
